NCACES Call for Awards Nominations and Research Grant Proposals
NCACES is proud to announce our call for award nominations and grant proposals for the 2024-2025 year. Award and grant recipients will be announced at the NCACES Conference in Rosemont, Illinois. All award nominations and grant proposals are due by August 1, 2024. Any questions may be sent to Jacqueline Swank at jswank@missouri.edu.
AWARDS
NCACES is proud to recognizes and celebrate the achievements of NCACES members and other professionals who have distinguished themselves through their work.
Complete the Awards Nomination
You will need to include the following supporting documents in a single PDF file:
Nomination letter that includes the award category and why the individual (or program) is deserving of the award.
Two support letters that include the award category and why the individual (or program) is deserving of the award.
All nominees for individual awards except the Special Recognition Award, must be members of NCACES.
The awards are as follows:
Outstanding Professional Service Award
Purpose: To honor excellence in professional service in counseling, counselor education and supervision to NCACES and/or the cause of counselor education and supervision that is of regional and national importance to the profession.
Outstanding Professional Teaching Award
Purpose: To honor excellence in teaching in a counseling, counselor education, or counseling supervision program in the North Central Region.
Outstanding Professional Leadership Award
Purpose: To honor excellence in leadership of an officer, committee person, or other major contributor at the national, regional, or state level.
Outstanding Research Award
Purpose: To honor significant research in the profession including the areas of counseling, counselor education, or counselor supervision.
Outstanding Supervisor Award
Purpose: To honor an individual in NCACES who has demonstrated outstanding work as a supervisor in a university, community/mental health counseling, or school setting.
Deanna Hawes Outstanding Mentor Award
Purpose: To honor an individual in NCACES who has been a significant mentor to graduate students, emerging professionals, educators, and/or supervisors in the manner demonstrated by Dr. Deanna Hawes over the course of her career in counselor education.
Outstanding Diversity Award
Purpose: To honor significant multicultural contributions to the profession of counseling, counselor education, or supervision.
Innovative Counselor Education Program Award (Masters or Doctoral Program)
Purpose: To honor an outstanding, innovative, and/or unique counseling or counselor education program at an institution in the NCACES Region. (Note: Depending on the number and distribution of nominations, a Master’s program and a Doctoral program may be recognized.)
Outstanding Graduate Student Award
Purpose: To honor a graduate student in NCACES who has provided outstanding leadership or service to the profession at the state, regional, or national level that has promoted the profession.
Special Recognition Award
Purpose: To honor and recognize NCACES members and non-members who have promoted and/or supported the counseling profession.
GRANTS
NCACES provides funding to support research studies that are focused on increasing understanding of the counselor education profession (including research, teaching, supervision, leadership and advocacy). The Research Awards Committee and NCACES will allocate funds based on the number of and level of excellence of research award proposals. Awards can be funded up to the amount of $750, and lesser amounts may be awarded. Research grant awards will be presented at the NCACES Conference in Rosemont, IL. Awardees should be available to receive them OR designate a representative to attend.

Who may apply:
The competition is open to both professional and student members of NCACES. The primary investigator (PI) must be an NCACES member at the time the application is submitted. Individuals may submit (or be part of a submission team) for only one proposal. Multiple submissions by any researcher (individually or as part of multiple research teams) will not be accepted.

Required proposal format:
12-point font, Times New Roman, double spaced, one-inch margins, maximum of four pages, including attachments. The "blind" title page and the title with author identification do not count in the page maximum. References may be added in addition to the four page limit. Submitted documents must be in Microsoft Word or PDF.
All documents should be submitted in the following order:
A title page with the TITLE of the proposal only (the "blind" title page).
A title page with the title and author identification.
The proposal document (4-page maximum, not including the title page and the references).
